How is it possible that we only have two more months left of 2016? I feel like I was just traveling to Hawaii for my birthday yesterday in January! However, despite the quick rush of time, I have gotten to adore some favorite products during the month of October. Although the items shown in the photo above are pretty random, all of these products have a special place in my heart.
Before I begin, I also wanted to say that this amazing post is in collaboration with my closest blogger friend, Silvia! We both met at a local blog event in Houston, and we've been friends ever since! Her blog is all about lifestyle, travel, food, fashion, and so much more! In person, she is the type of friend that always has such a positive energy and a caring heart. You can check out her portion of the blog here. Now, let's get right into my favorites:
Beauty Fave: LUSH products
Although I had such a difficult time choosing what products to pick, I realized how much I was interested in skincare this past month. Because of my pores and oily skin, I have been loving the Mask of Magnaminty! I would apply the mask during the evening to pamper myself while I scroll through my Instagram, Pinterest, and emails. However, since it is deep cleansing, I would normally use it 1-2 times a week. Another LUSH favorite has been the Rose Lollipop, which is a clear balm with a rose lemon sweet flavor. Not only do I adore the smell of this product, but it has massively helped me with my chapped lips. Ever since I bought this lip balm, I have worn it everyday.
Fashion Fave: Sunglasses with rose lens
Man, have I been obsessed with sunglasses lately! I really adore my octagon pink shades from Beehive. Plus, I have received many compliments from wearing it every time I go shopping. Silvia actually bought a similar pair to these when we went shopping together last week, so I'm glad we're twinning! No matter what month or season, you will probably spot me wearing pink sunglasses all throughout the year as well.
Food Fave: Pomegranate
I know what you're thinking....I'm probably so strange for choosing fruit as my favorite food of the month. Although I have indulged in many insta-worthy restaurants during October, I have always ended the day with eating fruit before bed. My mom and I would share a pomegranate together by splitting it in half, and each of us would eat it with a bowl and spoon in our hands while watching Dancing with the Stars. I always look forward to our fruit dates together! Health-wise, pomegranate is rich in antioxidants, which is great for cholesterol and improving the immune system- perfect for preventing colds and fevers!
Drink Fave: Pitaya Fruit Smoothies
Going hand in hand with eating fruit, I also enjoy drinking fruit smoothies for breakfast. These pitaya plus smoothie packs, called Pitaya Plus, are absolutely amazing for making quick smoothies on the go! If you've never heard of pitaya, it is also known as dragonfruit, which is commonly eaten and grown in Asian/South American countries. These smoothie packs will create a vibrant magenta color, which makes it fun for anyone who enjoys taking food/drink photos! Although pitaya isn't the sweetest flavor, it's incredibly healthy with it's super food benefits, such as improving the immune system, containing vitamins & antioxidants, and is great for skin, hair, and nails.
TV Fave: Grey's Anatomy
Although I have been incredibly late on the train, Grey's Anatomy is the only television show I have been keeping up with on Netflix. Because I had a past internship in a hospital, I thoroughly enjoy watching the medical cases and all the scandalous things that happen in Seattle Grace Hospital. P.S. If you are a fan of Grey's Anatomy, comment down below what character in the show best describes you! I'd love to know!
Movie Fave: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Although it is an old chick flick, I re-watched this movie with my mother this past month and completely fell in love with the movie all over again! The comedy, the life of NYC, and the fabulous fashion in that film is priceless! Since the film is over a decade old, I couldn't believe how young Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey looked back then! What amazes me more is how good they still look. Point is, I wouldn't mind being Andie Anderson in that movie any time!
Book Fave: Sounds Like Me by Sara Bareilles
Can I just say that Audible literally saves my life when it comes to keeping up with reading?! When I travel, I am always so thankful to have this app when I am waiting for rides, flights, and trains. "Sounds Like Me" by Sara Bareilles is a quick favorite that I have recently started reading, and it has made me appreciate her more than ever as a singer, songwriter, and person. If you are a musician or an avid fan of Sara Bareilles, I recommend checking this book out and learning more about her songwriting and life.
Song Fave: "Still the One" by Ingrid Michaelson
First off, take a listen to the song here and explain to me how you can't feel happy after listening to it! I have loved listening to Ingrid Michaelson, a pop/indie singer-songwriter, ever since I heard her song "Take Me the Way I Am" in an Old Navy commercial. She's the type of musician that really devotes her time with songwriting, and I find her music welcoming, cheeky, and fun. Plus, her whole new album "It Doesn't Have To Make Sense" is amazing and you can check it out here.
I hope you enjoyed reading my October favorites this past month! I don't normally post about my favorite products, so let me know if this is something you would be interested in reading in the future! Also, don't forget to check out Silvia's portion of the collaboration in her blog: http://www.lovelysilvia.com and let her know I sent you! October was an amazing (and extremely busy) month, and I'm excited for what November brings. Until next time- Ressa
