Who can believe that summertime in Houston has finally arrived?! With the extreme humidity, rainy afternoons, and endless amount of sun, outfits should be lightweight, comfortable, and easy to wear! Returning back home from Iceland, I quickly adjusted to the climate and created a sweet summer look that will be perfect for any occasion.
The most exciting parts of the year are when I witness the change in season: flowers are starting to bloom, Daylight Savings Time takes place, and the weather is gradually becoming warmer each day. Working day in and day out has made me feel mundane about fashion lately, especially when all the holidays are over and the only thing to look forward is a summer vacay. So, in collaboration with Anne Boswell, style blogger of anneboswellfashion.com, I styled a spring look that is perfect for any city girl wanting to spread some vibrancy to their style! It can be tricky finding ways to incorporate color when transitioning wardrobe pieces out of winter season, so this outfit is a great example of how to play with color combinations, fabrics, and accessories!
Early this year, I was able to experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sing for the Houston Live Exhibition for the Super Bowl Festival, a 10-day downtown fest that leads up to Super Bowl Sunday. Although I mostly share my travel and fashion endeavors on this blog, what most people may not know is that I grew up performing music. I was a "natural" at karaoke when I was three years old, and it grew my passion for singing. Like most Filipino parties, I'm that girl who never stopped singing "My Heart Will Go On" or "The Greatest Love of All." Singing eventually lead me to pursue the arts seriously as I learned piano, guitar, ukulele, and earned a degree in music. You can read more about my story at The Lasso here.
So the real subject matter that everyone asks, "What was it like?" And to tell you the truth, it was incredibly thrilling, nerve-wrecking, beautiful, wild, brief, and wonderful all at once.
February has finally arrived this year, and love is in the air now that Valentine's Day is coming up! Although I will most likely celebrate it by spending time with my friends, I am so excited to dress for the holiday by wearing lots of floral print, reds, pinks, and heart shaped fashion pieces! When I celebrated Galentine's Day with Casey from http://completelycasey.com and Silvia from http://lovelysilvia.com, my fellow Houston blogger friends, early this month, we decided to celebrate it in style with a feast full of treats! Because not only do bloggers love to dress up for any occasion, we also love to eat cute shape desserts- especially for Valentine's Day! Since a few of my friends were interested in how I made my flower crown featured in my last post here, I will be sharing with you how I DIY'd my flower crown as well as an additional treat recipe that is perfect for a Galentine's Day party. Let's begin:
I can not believe how much time flies every year. Now that I am one year older, I can't help but notice how much my life has changed within the past 365 days. Traveling around the world was a 2016 New Year's resolution for myself after I had experienced severe depression and anxiety post-graduation, and although I like to call it an "early-onset mid-quarter life crisis," I knew I had to make huge changes in my life in order to feel better. My blog was quietly created in order to keep all my personal interests in a virtually tangible place while I explored, and it started to become a hobby that allowed me to share my travel adventures and sense of fashion to everyone who had access to internet. Since then, my newfound hobby gave me opportunities that I had never imagined would happen after the success of a year's worth of blogging. Although I could go on and on for days about the positive impact this little interest space has given me, I decided to make 2017 the year where I created my official domain name: http:www.ressamazing.com! My blog is not going anywhere, and I am so incredibly happy to make this fashion post the first blog post with my own domain.
Goodbye 2016 and hello to 2017! It's amazing how one year of blogging has given me such joy. Never would I thought in my wildest dreams that I would find a creative outlet that would lead me to meeting talented people, having partnerships with amazing brands, and having friendships from all over the world! You can definitely count on me continuing this blog and sharing all my new adventures and fashion posts for 2017. So, for anyone who has supported me on this year-long journey of mine, I can't put into words how much I am thankful for you.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Every year, I feel so differently about this holiday. As a kid, I looked forward to the infinite amount of baked sweets and wrapped presents. I loved how Christmas, more so than any other holiday, brought spirit and joy to everyone around the world. When I became a teenager, Christmas started to feel so jaded as I discovered the hardships life brought me. Although I loved how it brought happiness to others, the holidays didn't fix the insecurities and problems that I felt about myself. It took time to realize that Christmas, or the holiday season for that matter, wasn't about feeling Hallmark-happy all the time. Now, as an adult, I've learned to hold onto the memories and the spirit of Christmas, because having a holiday that brings people you love closer is a rarity. One, that I cherish now that life is continuously unpredictable in many ways.
It's the most wonderful time of the year, so of course we have to dress for the occasion! I teamed up with my ride or die photographer, Irene Santos, for this three-part fashion holiday series where I share a different outfit each week until the new year! Working with her on this collaboration was so much fun, that I'm so excited to finally feature it! This week, I'm showcasing an outfit that is Christmas chic with the bright, funky red and green fashion pieces. I love this unique look, and here's how I achieve it:
December has finally reached Houston, and it's time to rock anything other than summer dresses! These past few weeks have consisted of nonstop labor, and I've been incredibly inspired to incorporate more color into my work outfits that don't include red or green (don't worry, Christmas outfits will be coming soon!). For now, I wanted to show a simple look that anyone with a 9-5 can wear for a bright, merry work shift any time of the year. Let's begin!
Thanksgiving break is here! It's the time of year when everybody is dealing with cooking recipes and in-laws, and unfortunately, finding a great outfit for Thanksgiving is the least of anyone's problems. Then again, it's not so easy to find a outfit that is flattering before and after three plates of dinner. So, I wanted to share with you three pooch-proof Thanksgiving outfits in three fashion styles: casual, edgy, and girly. Plus, I'm achieving these looks with one key item: an olive suede vest from Shop Pink Blush. For the holidays, you can create many different outfits when you have a great staple item. These outfits are not only perfect for the Fall festivities, but can also be worn all season long. Let's begin:
