Take it from my love for art and all things shiny to bring me back to writing another addition to the series! I'm such a huge fan of light-based artwork, so when I noticed many museums featuring luminous pieces, I knew it was going to be a hit in Houston this summer. The ever glowing lights and flashes of color will surely be a trend that many people will photograph. Because of this, I couldn't help but feel inspired to showcase the most colorful, glowy pieces:
It's the holiday season and the most perfect time of the year to celebrate outside with those you love. What better way to celebrate the holidays than to see amazing Christmas lights! Yet, with all the festive events happening in the city, it's hard to decide which event is perfect for you. I've teamed up with Silvia, from lovelysilvia.com, to share with you our top five holiday spots in Houston that give you a huge variety of places to see before the season ends! So without further ado, here is our top places:
Now that Fall is here, it's the perfect season to enjoy the outdoor weather in Houston! A cheap and easy way to explore the outdoors is to take a walk at one of the many parks in downtown. I have been inspired by the changing seasons to create another #Pose4Htown series about the "Top Five Parks in Houston." So whether you are a tourist enjoying Houston for the first time or a local who wants to learn more about the beautiful parks in the city, I hope you enjoy my favorites! Let's begin:
Welcome back to a third round of the #Pose4Htown series where I share the best photography spots around Houston! If there's anything I miss most when I return from a trip, it's the convenience of being near a beach! However, the water fountain areas in my home city really bring me back into vacation mode. So, it's only fair to share my top fountain picks in Houston. The list is not ranked in any way, but they are specifically chosen based on accessibility, location security, and the aesthetic/features of the water fountains. Here we go:
Welcome back for another round of my #Pose4Htown blog series where I share the best places for photography around the beautiful city of Houston! However, I am collaborating with Kristen Gjesdahl, who is a local artist and designer in Minneapolis, to share the most popular murals in Minnesota, too. We are both mural hunters, and since we are not familiar with the popular art walls of each others' cities, we decided to share three welcome murals from our home cities! So, whether you are visiting Minneapolis or Houston, know that there is always a spot in the city that will welcome you. Let's begin up north:
Tada!!! Here is the long awaited blog series that I am so happy to finally share! But before we begin, let me share with you something about me:
When I was a little girl, I was chased around with a camera. I was the youngest (and only!) daughter in the family, so my parents took pride in capturing all my childhood memories, regardless of how significant or random. My family made sure that if there ever was an opportunity, they would snap a photo. What I took away from those years was that I developed a deep appreciation for places and moments that were designed and created to photograph. Whether it be a beautiful bouquet of flowers given by a loved one or reaching the top of the Grand Canyon, there's always a person out there in this world trying to capture a memory.
With my recent travels (check out the destinations here), the one thing I noticed about a place is it's art. There is so much art to discover, especially when it comes to the art walls and murals of a city. There's something bold about art- how people travel all over the world to take a photo with it, how quickly people share a destination via social media, how artists are able to attract their masterpieces to a community...it is no wonder how people came up with the term "Instagram worthy" when describing a tourist spot. Today, I am beginning this series with my home city: Houston, TX!
